RESOLUTION HONORING ERIC ROBERT TALBOT
RESOLUTION #03-281
WHEREAS, Eric Robert Talbot is currently a Junior at Williamston High School where he is on the honor roll and active in Junior Varsity baseball and soccer; and
WHEREAS, Eric is a certified United States Soccer Federation referee and serves as a referee for local soccer leagues, and he is also an umpire for the Red Cedar Recreation Association's baseball league and works with younger baseball players to help improve their skills and teamwork; and
WHEREAS, Eric's fascination with the military has played an important role in determining his goals following graduation from high school, he plans to attend a university where he can receive a degree in either military doctrine or military history, as well as join the Army or Air Force ROTC; and
WHEREAS, he has been an active participant in Boy Scout Troop #63 since 1998 and has earned 28 merit badges; and
WHEREAS, in 2000 Eric became a member of the Order of the Arrow where he has served as quartermaster, assistant patrol leader, patrol leader and treasurer for his patrol; and
WHEREAS, his Eagle Project involved the construction of a display case with glass shelves for the Williamston Middle School to display non-school sponsored awards for organizations such as the Red Cedar Recreation Association and Destination Imagination, as well repairing and painting the existing display cases; he spent 15 hours planning the project and with the help of 12 fellow scouts, friends and family, spent a total of 101 hours completing the project; and
WHEREAS, Eric has earned the highest rank attainable in Scouting, the Eagle Scout; and
WHEREAS, to achieve the Eagle rank, a scout must demonstrate leadership and citizenship while earning 21 merit badges before reaching the age of 18.
THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED, that the Ingham County Board of Commissioners congratulates Eric Robert Talbot for earning the rank of Eagle Scout and extend its sincere appreciation to Eric for serving as a positive role model for the youth in our community.
